Decolorization of industrial wastewater using electrochemical peroxidation process

In this study, decolorization of wastewater samples taken from the paper industry is investigated using electrochemical peroxidation process. The process a part advanced oxidation processes, which based on Fenton’s chemical reaction, provided by addition external H2O2 into reaction cell. iron used as anode and graphite cathode put at fixed distance 30 mm in glass cell was filled with solution containing sodium chloride supporting electrolyte. Factors such pH, current intensity, hydrogen peroxide concentration, time treatment were studied. results illustrate that all these parameters affect efficiencies dye removal oxygen demand (COD) reducing. maximal contaminants achieved under acid (pH 3) condition, applied 1 A, concentration 0.033 M. At conditions, efficiency reached 100 83 % COD after 40 minutes sample treatment. addition, electrical energy consumption for calculated, showing increase intensity increased. obtained suggest can be removing compounds industrial wastewaters high efficiency.
